Tip #1

Try to be as specific as possible with your message to the recruiter, such as what you are looking for in your next role or what kind of talent are you looking to hire for your company.

Kia Ora Thanks for asking. Was expecting a professional service. Which turned out to be a nightmare. A waste of 1 hour of my precious time getting nowhere & stuck with narcissist phycopath. He was sarcastic, rude, racist, negative and of no help. Although he boasts of 25 years of experience with no professional HR qualifications he only has 4 reviews and 4 views on referral videos presenting candidates on YouTube. No not impressed. He started with insulting my CV calling it " wiered" when I was drafted by the Institute I studied the legal Secretaries course & reviewed by carrers unit of Victoria University. He was not prepared nor has he read my CV. He was reading the CV and typing keeping me waiting. What a time waster. He asked the most ridiculous questions like " what's the turnover, how many employees" my Dubai Employer had as If I'm going to remember after 10 years of moving to another country. He was so suspicious and didn't want to believe and was grilling "so you reported to the Sheikh and he approved your leave". What a harassment. We all know about the budget cuts and how quiet recruitment is. So no use insulting or picking on faults in a candidate by being negative & insulting & wasting my time when he knows he can't present a overseas qualified lawyer with extensive PQE as a candidate to the government agencies which he boasts on YouTube that he has secured. He should not ask silly questions like What do you mean you are looking for a Legal Executive or Legal Secretary" role that's for him to know as a Recruiter as to what the job entails. I do understand that he's an accountant & I'm shocked that being in the industry for 25 + years hes asking silly questions which are totally irrelevant like what does an "Electronics company sell?" or whether they manufacture or import ". He said to remove "Wellington" from the CV but others have requested me to include 'NZ". As a traveller to 20 countries I have come across Wellington in US, UK, Australia & South Africa. He also pointed out to remove " Sri Lanka" from the CV and said that people in NZ don't care about it when others have requested me to include where the Law Degree was completed. He then googled and informed that he cannot find my employer " Zener Group" & I could see it online immediately. It's appalling. He stated that I should state that the Dubai "employer is a diversified company with interest in import & export." For heavens sake I'm not presenting my employer on my CV marketing my ex employer. Who has the time to read pages of unnecessary b& irrelevant jargon on how many employees what the turn over or what the business is into or why I moved a country on a CV. He said "it's like we are having a chat" and that my "CV is like a toddlers." Come on 25 years of mucking around, be professional. I don't appreciate him cutting the line on me so rude. The star is for the lovely team at Frog Recruitment which I've been dealing with for the past 7 + years. There's a lot more to add but I don't wish to waste anymore of my precious time on going back as he's a total failure he's so negative with so many "I can't present you", " you're not able to find a job", " employers are not paying $ 15,000. Shame. Who wants to know how much is earned. I know how much I'm worth. I've studied at Victoria University with a Legal 7 and done Legal Secretary's Course in Auckland and even completed 6 legal courses from College of Law. Thank you for the service.!

I reached out to Mark when I was starting my job search. I spoke with 2 recruiters at other companies before Mark, but he was the first one to really go through my non-traditional background and give insight on how it could be viewed from a hiring manager's point of view. He also gave some ideas on steps I could take to improve my CV. The changes I made to my CV helped me land an interview and I am currently awaiting an official job offer! His company also actively reaches out each week to see if you're still interested in finding a job and looks for the right fit for you. I definitely recommend him!
