1. What Is an ATS Friendly Resume?

Depending on where you live, you'll either need a resume or CV. A CV (curriculum vitae) is normally found in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and Asia along with an attached photograph. A CV in the U.S. is normally used for applying to education, scientific, medical, research, or academic positions.

The main difference between the 2 is that U.S. laws don't allow certain private information to be placed into the resume. Whereas, an international CV tends to require more personal information that you wouldn't find on a resume. Some examples could include the number of children, marital status, date of birth, and nationality.

ATS stands for the applicant tracking system. This software is normally used by employers and recruiters to scan, sort, collect and rank job applications. It was initially created to sort through the thousands of job applications large corporations receive. Many corporations rely on ATS today for their application process.

Consider ATSs as the gatekeepers to your dream job. You’ve got to get past them first in order to succeed.

When creating your ATS compliant resume, you'll want to ensure that it follows a specific format. Make sure it shows what's most important for you to highlight such as the job title or company name. Your date should always be at the top right of the position. Work experience should also include the skills you used in the role.

Don't go past 2 pages for your resume. It's still important to ensure your resume is ATS-friendly when you're searching for a recruiter

2. How Can Recruiters Use AI?

More and more recruiting software out there is starting to use AI. The recruitment market is hence kicking off with innovation. AI can be used to focus on humanism within HR, improve a candidate's experience, and reduce bias. Recruiters can use chatbots in many parts of HR.

It's a great way to communicate with visitors on your website. If a visitor has trouble finding something, the chatbot can have them ask their question. AI's can also show a recruiter the best times to reach out to potential candidates. You can also use AI to write a great job advert that's successful.

3. How to Write a Resume to Satisfy the ATS?

Nicely done charts and templates might impress a human recruiter, but an ATS bot might not appreciate it. Always use a clean and simple design. Avoid using bullet style, custom font styles, and embedded charts or images. Don't have important contact information in your header or footer.

Always customize your resume to the job you're applying for and don't send out the same resume to every job.

4. Can the 'Applicant Tracking Systems' Read .PDF Files?

A PDF is not the best ATS resume option. PDF files are great at keeping the format and design of your resume but it's not compatible with all ATS software. If a PDF is listed as an option to upload your resume, you can then use a PDF. If the file type isn't specified, you'll want to avoid a PDF version.

Instead, use a word document. Plain-text files are also an ATS friendly resume template.

5. Where Can I Find Some Good Resumes/Ats Templates?

You can find some good ATS templates by going to Jobscan, the ats free resume scan. They have plenty of free resume templates that are ATS-friendly. You can also check out Hloom as well.

6. What Words Should I Use When Writing a Resume?

To make sure you have an ATS optimized resume, you'll want to use keywords. Keywords are hard skills and soft skills you have along with the knowledge and experience you've gained over the years for the position. Take a look at 3-5 job descriptions that fit the position you're looking for.

  • Pay attention to what terms are often used in each description.
  • The terms that come up, if you have them, make sure to incorporate them into your resume.
  • Try to add the term at least 2-3 times throughout your resume or CV.
  • Have one of the keywords in your education or work experience section.
  • Make sure not to overstuff the keywords in your resume.
